This morning was the running of the Trail of Torment 10K. 50 participants braved the cold weather and wet trails to challenge themselves on the tough trails of Mission Trails Park. The course featured a variety of terrain including flats, hills, dirt, mud, rocks, and several stream crossings. All levels of athletes were present at the race and the course proved to be a challenge to everyone.

From the start to finish, Ryan McMonigle led the race. The 18-year-old made the course look easy as he blazed the path for the rest of the competitors. Ryan was followed by Jean-Claude Constandse. On the Women’s side, it was Chavva Fionda who crossed the finish line first, followed by Michelle Racicot.

The race was hosted by San Diego Running Institute and is the first in a series of trail races that will occur throughout the year. For more information on future races visit http://www.sdri.net
