Saucony Grid Fastwitch 4
Saucony took an awesome shoe (Grid Fastwitch 3) and made it even better with the Grid Fastwitch 4. There are 2 main differences between the 3rd and 4th version. First, they made the shoe in two colors. Bright yellow for men and a light green for women. Second they put more XT-900 (Carbon rubber) on the bottom of the shoe. This means increased durability. On top of all this, they dropped the weight .3 ounces.
The Grid Fastwitch 4 is a racing shoe. Technically it is a light stability shoe but the amount of stability (called “mid-foot posting”) is so small the effects are not noticed for many. In fact, I have seen several neutral shoe wearers use the Fastwitch 4 without issues. So, with that said, this shoe is a good choice for a race-day shoe. However, it is light and does not offer much protection from the ground so you pay prefer something less minimal for longer events. It is also a good choice if you are trying to transition to barefoot running. (A topic for another day)
