Mizuno Wave Elixir 5
The Mizuno Wave Elixir 5 is not all that much of a change from the Elixir 4. One difference is that they used a different foam in the midsole. The new AP+ midsole claims to have a “bouncier” feel to it. However, I did not notice it and the Wave Elixir 5 weighs the same as it’s predecessor. The Elixir 5 and 4 are both excellent shoes. They are technically considered light stability shoes and are a great choice for a training OR racing shoe. This shoe has a lower profile than almost every other brand’s competing shoe.
One of the nice things about this shoe is that it is definitely one of the lightest training shoes out there. It could be compared to the Asics Gel-DS Trainer, but lighter. In typical Mizuno fashion, the cut of the shoe accommodates a SLIGHTLY wide foot better than its competitors.
